Scribe vs Demonstratio

Scribe makes a written guide with screenshots; Demonstratio makes a demo the viewer clicks through. People compare them because both start the same way — you press record and do the thing — so the useful question is which output your job needs.

Demonstratio is in development

Who should pick which.

Pick Scribe if…

  • You need written documentation people read — SOPs, onboarding docs, help-desk answers.
  • You want unlimited seats on a free plan, which no interactive demo tool offers.
  • You capture outside the browser, on desktop or mobile.
  • You need PDF, HTML, or Markdown export into an existing knowledge base.
  • You need it today.

Wait for Demonstratio if…

  • You want the viewer clicking through your product, not reading about it.
  • Redaction is the whole reason you can publish, and paying for it feels backwards.
  • The five-seat minimum on Pro Team means you'd buy five seats to use three.
  • You want to embed the walkthrough on a landing page rather than link to a doc.
  • A video export at the end would be useful.

Different outputs, same starting point

The best free tier here, with one catch

Unlimited seats and unlimited web capture make Scribe's free tier a strong option for internal documentation. Redaction is a Pro feature, however, so a guide captured from a live account with customer names may require an upgrade before publication.

The five-seat minimum

Pro Team is $13 a seat on annual billing, with a five-seat minimum. A three-person team pays $65 a month for five seats. Pro Personal at $25 avoids the minimum, but is limited to one seat.

What Demonstratio does not offer today.

We build Demonstratio, so this comparison is not independent. Here are the capabilities you will not find in it today—and where Scribe may be the better fit.

  • 01

No AI-generated scripts, voiceovers, translations, or cloned voices.

  • 02

No branching or multi-path demos. Each demo follows one path from start to finish.

  • 03

No personalization variables for addressing viewers by company or account name.

  • 04

No PDF, GIF, or image export. MP4 is the only export format.

  • 05

No native CRM connectors. Integrations are limited to outbound webhooks for now.

  • 06

    No custom domains at launch.

  • 07

No live sandbox of your product. A demo replays the screens you captured, along one path.

  • 08

Capture is Chrome-extension only — no desktop, mobile, or Figma capture.

  • 09

The product is still in development, so there is no signup or trial yet.

Some of these are intentional product decisions; others are simply not built yet. If you need one of these capabilities today, Scribe is the better choice.
